For over 20 years, I have worked in the field of human development and human services. My work has centered on two major tenets. The first is to provide high-quality, compassionate, and inter-disciplinary services to those I serve. The second is to activity seek systemic changes so that all human services - regardless of funding source - are well coordinated, focused on prevention and early intervention, are equity-driven, and are accountable to those they serve.
Below are highlights of work I've been involved in.
Managed a private-public early childhood development program that provided an whole-child/family and coordinated system of early care and learning for children 0-5 years old and their families, with the overall aim of eliminating the academic gap before children started kindergarten. I have experience managing private-public funding initiatives, include admitting grant dollars, private pay, Head Start, and California State Preschool Program funding.
Developed new youth outreach and teen services internship program for public library system. This included new relationships with AmeriCorps to leverage federal funding to support expansion of capacity to serve vulnerable teens.
Oversaw partnership to implement evidence-based home visiting program (Parents as Teachers) to CalWORKs clients who are pregnant or have children 0-2 years old. Supported the development of grant application to State Department of Social Services, and spearheaded all aspects of programmatic development and contract administration. In my early career, I supported development of a program, through local non-profit, to help parents of elementary school-aged children to build and keep their own computers in order to support their children with homework, as well as to support their ability to learn how to use computer to look for job opportunities.
Experience in overseeing contracts with community-based organizations and professional consultants including development of related public procurement processes, and development and review of contracts which include budgets, scopes of work and related addendums. This also included overseeing monitoring and evaluation of grant programs. This includes, but not limited to work on Theories of Change, data monitoring, metrics review and development, and creating continuous quality improvement reports.
Supported co-creation of a systems of care that supported families to access care coordination services when they had developmental concerns and other family needs. Services were strategically connected to a Multi-Disciplinary Team Review to ensure there was a reflective process and inter-disciplinary discussion to ensure families are served by the services that will best meet their unique needs. Have also led work to improvement of a Family Resource Center by developing partnerships and developing MOUs with community partners, including physical health, mental health, nutrition, transportation, employment and other partners to ensure families had a one-stop-shop directly inside their local elementary school.
Facilitated development of relationships with local Medi-Cal managed-care provider in order to explore leveraging Medi-Cal and CalAIM funding opportunities to better serve young children and their families. I am actively involved in supporting a local agency to secure contract for Community Health Worker (CHW) services. I am also involved in supporting work to explore sustainable pathways to fund home visiting services (parenting education and coaching program).
Experience in supporting identification of grant opportunities, grant writing, and collaborating with multiple stakeholders to develop complex proposals.
